Art DeTour Weekend April 16-17

 

The Emporium Center in downtown Knoxville is pleased to participate in Dogwood Arts’ Art DeTour weekend on Saturday & Sunday, April 16-17. The ten resident artists of the Emporium will open their studios for live demonstrations from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM each day. Admission is free. The Art DeTour is a two-day event during which local artists throughout Knoxville welcome the public into their working studio spaces to experience the creative process while demonstrating the making of their artwork. While at the Emporium, see some of Knoxville’s most talented artists as they work:

Bobbie Crews, Suite 107 – Oils, watercolors and other mixed media; portraits of people and antique or classic cars, murals, courtroom sketching, drawing, design and consulting: www.bobbiecrews.com

Connie Gaertner, Suite 109 – Oil, acrylic, watercolor, en plein air: www.conniegaertner.com

Judi Gaston, Suite 108 – Fiber, hand-woven garments, recycled materials. Judi was recently featured in the latest CityView magazine and will be weaving in her studio throughout the weekend: www.judigastonhandwoven.com

Diana Kilburn, Suite 105 – Watercolor, painting. Diana will be working on a new downtown Knoxville painting commemorating the 225th Anniversary of the City and a botanical painting which will be exhibited in August at the Visitor’s Center at the Smoky Mountains National Park in honor of 100th anniversary of the founding of the National Park Service.

Bob Leggett, Suite 101 – Watercolor, pastel; fiction, non-fiction

Fritz Massaquoi, Suite 111 – Batik, tie-dye, weaving, painting, printmaking, handmade papers

Pam Radford, Suite 113 – Oil, watercolor

James Taylor, Suite 102 – Chalk pastel painting, graphite/pencil portraits, commissions; musician. Each of these artists will have completed works of art for sale!  On Sunday, April 17, the Emporium will also host a Jazz Jam in the Black Box from 4:00-6:00 PM with Vance Thompson & Friends.
