The Scholastic Art AwardsClick here to view a slideshow of all of the Gold Key works from 2008. As Regional Affiliates of the Scholastic Art Awards, we celebrate secondary school student achievement. We serve students in the counties of Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Claiborne, Grainger, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Monroe, Morgan, Roane, Sevier, and Union. If you are not in these counties, contact the Regional Coordinator: Suzanne Cada, (865) 523-7543, sc@knoxalliance.com for assistance. Thank you to our presenting sponsor, First Tennessee Foundation! Click here to view a slideshow of some of the 2007 Gold Key recipients from our region. ONLINE REGISTRATION Register (students/teachers): http://registration.artandwriting.org. DROP-OFF SUBMISSIONS We encourage you to submit during the second set of delivery dates: JURYING OF SUBMISSIONS AWARDS CEREMONY & EXHIBITION All submissions not selected for the show must be picked up by February 1, 2008. We are not responsible for any submissions not picked up by this date. THE SCHOLASTIC ART AWARDS EXHIBITION DATES All pieces must be picked up following the exhibit by March 7, 2008. Scholastic notes* -- E-mail addresses: It is possible to register students who do not have their own e-mail address without them having to create one. In the e-mail address field, type: (first_initial)(last_name)@tn001.com. (For example, scada@tn001.com). Please note these will not be real e-mail addresses. -- Fee waiver: Entry fees are waived if the school is Title 1 OR if students are on free/reduced lunch. One letter from each school will suffice as documentation. The letter should be on official school letterhead and should either note that the school is Title 1 (and all students' entry fees are waived), or it should list the names of students on free/reduced lunch. -- Checks for the entry fees should be made out to: "Arts & Culture Alliance" -- We still require 2 copies of the entry forms printed after online registration. The best way to attach them to artwork is to staple both copies together, affix THE BOTTOM COPY with masking tape on all four edges, and use 1 small piece of masking tape to hold the top copy down.
-- For 3-D work, mount submission forms in a similar manner on cardboard and tie to the artwork with string. -- 2-D work MUST be mounted on rigid board for reinforcement and protection in handling. Matting is not required. If matted, white or black mats only. -- Art Portfolios are accepted as digital images on CD only - NO SLIDES. Photography Portfolios require BOTH prints and digital images on CD. -- You do NOT need to create an inventory of your works (as in past years). The Alliance will download your list of registered artwork online to compare with works at the time of drop-off.
