Emporium Holiday Extravaganza, December 7-8, 2007
HOURS: Friday, December 7, 11am-9pm and Saturday, December 8, 10am-5pm. Admission is FREE.

Parking is FREE in the Jackson Avenue lot (caddy-corner from the Emporium), and at metered spots on Saturday. Parking meters on the Gay Street bridge will be unavailable during the Santa Claus parade on Friday evening. Click here for directions and parking areas.

The Alliance invites the public and downtown workers to anticipate the WIVK Santa Claus Parade by browsing the merchandise of artists on Friday, December 7, beginning at 11am, with traditional and contemporary folk songs by Liz McGeachy and Tim Marema of Norris.  The Extravaganza continues until 9pm as part of “First Friday” downtown with live entertainment by a string quartet of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, sweet treats, and warm drinks.  On Saturday, December 8, from 10am-5pm, the Emporium Center again hosts a variety of festive activities including music by the Mountain Breeze Quartet.

Arts & Culture Alliance National Juried Exhibition of 2007
The Arts & Culture Alliance is pleased to present its National Juried Exhibition of 2007, a new exhibition featuring selected artwork from 30 artists in Tennessee and surrounding states.  The Arts & Culture Alliance National Juried Exhibition was developed to provide a forum for local artists to compete on a national scale and display their highest quality work.  The selected art features both traditional and non-traditional work and will be exhibited at the Arts & Culture Alliance’s Emporium Center Gallery from December 14, 2007 - January 11, 2008.  An awards ceremony and public reception will take place on Friday, January 4, 5-9pm at the Emporium Center as part of First Friday activities in downtown Knoxville.

The juror, Nandini Makrandi Jestice, holds a joint position as Curator of Contemporary Art at the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga and Assistant Professor of Art History at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  Prizes include $1,400 in cash awards as well as future exhibition opportunities.  Award winners will be announced on Monday, December 10.

The reception on Friday, January 4, from 5-9pm, is free and open to the public, and complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be served.  The National Juried Exhibition of 2007 is on exhibit December 14, 2007 - January 11, 2008 at the Arts & Culture Alliance’s Emporium Center, 100 S. Gay Street, downtown Knoxville.  Exhibit hours are Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm (with additional hours on Saturday, January 5, 11am-3pm).  The Emporium will be closed Monday, December 24, 2007 through Tuesday, January 1, 2008.  For more information, please contact the Arts & Culture Alliance at (865) 523-7543.
