Alliance places member artwork at the Knoxville News Sentinel Gallery
The Alliance recently placed new artwork in the Knoxville News Sentinel Gallery, 2332 News Sentinel Drive.  This exhibit, titled "Taking Notice", features works by local artists Myrtle Bartolini, Aleex Conner, Bobbie Crews, Jessica Gregory, Jean Hess, Marjorie Horne, Shawn Lorraine Kincaid, Marie Merritt, Michael Murphy, Mignon Naegeli, Allan D. Sibley, Lynnda Tenpenny, Fran Thie, Marilyn Avery Turner, and Bob & Dolores Wells.  The opening reception is Monday, June 12, from 5:30-7:30 PM at the News Sentinel Gallery.  Everyone is invited to attend!

The Alliance also currently places artwork at the City Mayor's office, the County Mayor's Office, the East Tennessee Foundation, and the Knoxville Area Chamber Partnership offices.

Arts & Culture Alliance Presents Annual Member Show
The Arts & Culture Alliance presents its annual Member Show, an exhibition showcasing a fresh mix of two- and three-dimensional work from artists of the Alliance.  Featured works are new or have not shown in the Knoxville area during the past five years.  The exhibit runs June 2 – 30 at the Emporium Center and encompasses a wide variety of media, such as oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, pencils, pen and ink, charcoal, Japanese ink painting, calligraphy, collage, mixed media, airbrush, computer graphics, photography, fine crafts, quilting, quilt art, silk painting, beadwork, iron sculpture, paper sculpture, bronze sculpture, stone sculpture, clay, enamels, glass, wood-carving, ceramics, jewelry, pottery, corn shuck dolls, hand-woven garments, tapestry, stained glass, metal, and more!

"Tête de Femme" ("Head of a Woman") by Allan D. Sibley

The opening reception on Friday, June 2, from 5-9pm, features live entertainment by Skylark: vocalist Emily Shane and jazz pianist Charlie Rule provide “smooth stylings with swingin’ standards”.  The reception is free and open to the public; complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres are served.  The Member Show is on exhibit at the Emporium Center for Arts & Culture, 100 S. Summer arts camp scholarships
Information about local summer arts camps is set to appear in the Sunday, April 23, edition of the Knoxville News Sentinel.  Click here to download the scholarship application (Word document).  Fill it out and either mail or fax back to us.  Partial scholarships are available on a need-basis.  Allocation of money will begin in May.  Many thanks to First Tennessee Foundation for sponsoring these scholarships.  If you have questions, please contact Cheryl at (865) 523-7543.
