This exhibit is one of several events celebrating the American Association of Museums’ "2006: Year of the Museum".  The Arts & Culture Alliance coordinated the production of a brochure spotlighting the unique traits and mapping the location of each site; more than 50,000 of these brochures are distributed to 82 locations in the Knoxville and surrounding communities, including airports, hotels, restaurants, visitor bureaus, tourist information centers, retail stores, and malls.  The Knoxville News Sentinel is sponsoring a yearlong series of feature articles highlighting one specific museum in each Sunday edition of the paper, with the participating museum members offering a day of free admission.  The Alliance similarly partnered with East Tennessee Public Television to produce 30-second promotions featuring each museum site that run several times a week throughout the year.  Finally, through a partnership with the Attractions Channel, eleven museums have purchased a cooperative two-minute ad showing in more than fifteen hotels in the immediate area.  Detailed information about these museums and historic homes can be found on the Alliance’s website here: http://www.knoxalliance.com/visitors/virtualtour.html.

Student Ticket Subsidy Information (2006-2007)

Click here to download the guidelines and application (Word document).

Click here to view the catalog approved Student Ticket Subsidy events (Word document).

We accept faxes beginning at 12am on Friday, September 15, 2006, to (865) 523-7312.

The Arts & Culture Alliance of Greater Knoxville is very happy to announce the Student Ticket Subsidy Program is being funded again this year.  Student Ticket Subsidy, made possible by a generous grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission on behalf of the Tennessee General Assembly, affords schools the opportunity to take students to arts events, exhibitions, and performances.

Funds are available for students in Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Knox, Loudon, Monroe, Morgan, Roane, Scott, Sevier, and Union counties.  In order for you or your organization to be considered for Student Ticket Subsidy Eligibility, your event/performance must take place between September 15, 2006 and the last day of school (2007).

Your application must be received by July 31, 2006, in order for your listing(s) to be guaranteed inclusion in our and the Tennessee Arts Commission's online catalogues.  Should additional events be scheduled after the deadline, they will be considered at your request but will not be printed in the Student Ticket Subsidy Catalog, and publicizing these events will be solely your responsibility.

The Tennessee Arts Commission has developed a standardized application form that can be found on their website: www.arts.state.tn.us/applartistdirectorysts.doc.  Every event desiring
approval for Ticket Subsidy must fill out this form and submit it to their designated agency.
-- If this is your first time to apply, please fill out the entire application and include all attachments requested.
-- If you/your organization was approved last year, please fill out and submit the application up to the "What to Submit in Addition to the Application" section.
-- If you would like to be considered for more than one program, please submit the application up to the "What to Submit in Addition to the Application" section for each program to be considered. If this is your first time to apply, please send only one set of attachments and then do additional pages as needed for each program.
-- Also, each organization or individual desiring approval is requested to attend a two-day workshop on Arts Integration, August 25 & 26 at the Alliance's Emporium Center, 100 S. Gay Street, Knoxville.  The FREE workshop is presented by Karen Erickson, chairman of the Kennedy Center's Education Alliance.  The two days will be fun and informational!

A letter explaining the Student Ticket Subsidy program will be sent to all the schools in our eleven county region.  Your listing(s) will be included in the online catalogues.  In order to be successful, however, you will need to contact schools to promote and schedule events yourself.  Funds for this program tend to deplete quickly.  Even if your performance is in the spring, you will need to promote it to the schools early in the year.  Schools may begin requesting funds September 15, 2006, and for the last two years, all funds have been gone by Thanksgiving.  All approved programs are eligible throughout the entire state and even non-state programs may be approved this year; so don't delay promoting YOUR program throughout the state and especially in this area.

The Arts & Culture Alliance is proud to administer this great program and we look forward to receiving your materials for the upcoming season.  Please do not hesitate to contact Cheryl at 865-523-7543 if you need any additional information about the application or the workshop.
