Rachmaninoff, the Last Concert
Located in the World's Fair Park/Convention Center lawn area, the bronze sculpture of the famed Russian pianist-composer stands with his left hand extended as if toward a piano keyboard. It shows him as he appeared at what proved to be his final public concert on February 17, 1943, at the University of Tennessee Alumni Gymnasium. Rachmaninoff died later that year.
