Big Ears Festival: One Beat
“A United Nations of Music… world music in its truest sense.” – The New York Times
Big Ears Festival is partnering with OneBeat, a meeting of 25 incredible musicians hailing from 17 countries around the globe, to close out their month-long residency and tour with a series of workshops, discussions and public performances in Knoxville, culminating in a concert extravaganza that is open to the public free-of-charge. This one-of-a-kind performance features organic mashups of traditional songs from Mongolia, edgy synthesizer sounds from China, intoxicating bass lines from Madagascar, old-time banjo playing and MCing from North Carolina, and Afro-Colombian grooves, all in a celebration of how music invigorates our local and global communities.
While the event is free and open to the public, capacity is limited and patrons are encouraged to guarantee their admission by donating online.
