By Kate Hamill and based on the novel by Jane Austen. Set in late 18th century England, this modern adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel follows the Dashwood sisters — reserved Elinor and expressive Marianne — after their father’s sudden death leaves them without money and socially vulnerable. Gossipy, humorous, and filled with emotional depth, this witty play adapted by Kate Hamill is a funny and thoughtful examination of the sacrifices and consequences born from societal pressures, and what can happen when you choose to ignore them.
