Live, full-length opera performed in Italian with projected English translations. The Tennessee Premiere of Donizetti’s 1835 masterpiece! Two Rival Queens… A Thirst for Power… The Scandal of a Century! Elizabeth I, fearing her rival in love and politics, has imprisoned her cousin, Mary Queen of Scots, for 18 years. What happens when Elizabeth and Mary finally meet face to face? A riveting, explosive showdown featuring unspeakable insults and vocal fireworks! Fighting for her crown and survival, Elizabeth send Mary to the executioner’s scaffold. Opera previews hosted by Maestro Salesky begin 45 minutes prior to each performance.

Compliments of the Aslan Foundation, Knoxville Opera is offering a limited number of free student tickets to their main stage production of Mary Queen of Scots on Friday, April 28 (7:30 PM) and Sunday, April 30 (2:30 PM). This is an excellent opportunity for students (intermediate school through college) to experience the magic of a complete opera with spectacular music, sets, costumes and thrilling performers.
