Knoxville Opera: Puccini’s Madame Butterfly (Student Dress Rehearsal)
Puccini’s most popular opera tells the heart-breaking story of an innocent Japanese girl who is betrayed by her U.S. naval officer husband. The dramatic, ravishing music brilliantly underscores the tragedy which never fails to bring tears to the eyes. This visually provocative production features Metropolitan Opera soprano Danielle Pastin as the betrayed Butterfly, and tenor Richard Troxell as Lt. B. F. Pinkerton, star of Frédéric Mitterand’s award-winning film version of the opera.
