You won’t want to miss Carbon Fiber Pairings, a student-friendly, pre-concert dinner with taco bar and carbon-ated beverages. Attendees will have the opportunity to touch and “try” carbon fiber string instruments and explore a dissected wooden cello. RSVP by February 7th to 483-5569 or lisa@orcma.org. Adult admission $20. The Cumberland Piano Trio performs at 7:30 PM and will introduce the audience to beautiful and captivating carbon fiber string instruments supplied by Pulcir Music of Oak Ridge. The ensemble will perform music by Dmitri Shostakovich, David Baker and Antonín Dvořák. Come at 7:00 PM for the pre-concert talk when guest ORNL carbon fiber scientist Dr. Amit Naskar joins the musicians on stage to talk about carbon fiber and its many applications. Adults $25. Young Adult (19-29) $10. Youth 18 & Under attend all activities free.
The Cumberland Piano Trio began as an outgrowth of the Oak Ridge Civic Music Association’s “Isotone” Chamber concerts. The group’s cellist is Dan Allcott, an accomplished cellist and Music Director of the Oak Ridge Symphony. Violinist Susan Lang Eddlemon is a graduate of the Juilliard School in New York City where she was the first woman violinist to receive a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Julliard. A native of Osaka, Japan, pianist Emi Kagawa, is a soloist and chamber musician who has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Italy, and Japan.
