Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra Presents Symphonic Postcards
Saturday, April 25, 7:00PM
Oak Ridge Performing Arts Center Oak Ridge, Tennessee

The Oak Ridge Civic Music Association proudly presents Symphonic Postcards, the final concert of the season and a nationalistic tribute to the 250th Anniversary of America. Guest conductor James Fellenbaum leads the Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra (ORSO) in a program that radiates joy, beauty, and national pride, featuring three iconic works: Shostakovich’s Festive Overture, Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 with concertmaster Rachel Loseke, and Respighi’s Pines of Rome.

Each piece in Symphonic Postcards serves as a “musical postcard” to its homeland. Shostakovich’s Festive Overture, written at remarkable speed to commemorate the 37th anniversary of the October Revolution, bursts with brilliance and jubilation. Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 stands as one of the most beloved works in the violin repertoire, a celebration of melodic beauty, dance-like elegance, and emotional depth. ORSO concertmaster Rachel Loseke will bring her artistry to this romantic masterpiece as featured soloist. The concert concludes with Respighi’s Pines of Rome, an epic tone poem that captures Italy’s landscapes and history through stunning orchestral colors and cinematic power.
