Call for Artwork for the Arts & Culture Alliance Annual Members Show (and exchange)!
Join this fine line-up of artists from previous Members Shows and plan to submit work for the annual Members Show at the Emporium! Follow these handy tips for a great experience:
1) Delivery date
Please bring up to two original works to our office at the Emporium on Monday, November 28, between 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM. All artwork should go downstairs into the lower gallery. Set it against a blank wall or on a table.
2) Show requirements
*The show is open to INDIVIDUAL members of the Arts & Culture Alliance only. (Not a member? Join now!)
*There is no fee to participate for current individual members.
*One or two works from each member will appear in the show, depending on space. Every member who submits work will have at least one piece included!
*Works must have been created within the last two years and not shown previously in the Emporium galleries. Original works only; no giclées. We’re also reserving the display case in the front window for jewelry and smaller sculptures/works.
*2-D works must be wired to hang.
*Please prep work by including your name and artwork title on both the back of the piece as well as on a scrap piece of paper taped to the FRONT of your work. This will help with minimizing handling during installation.
3) First Friday reception on Friday, December 2, 5:00-9:00 PM
Join us for this fun evening! We’ll have everyone’s favorite chocolate fondue from the Melting Pot, and we’ll feature Pasion Flamenca (music and dance) from 6:00-6:30 PM in the Black Box.
*Remember that the WIVK Santa Claus Parade starts at 7:00 PM along Gay Street. Come early and stay late!
4) EXCHANGE DETAILS! Want to show your work at the Arts Depot in Abingdon?
Once again, we are partnering with the Arts Depot in Abingdon, VA in an exhibition exchange among our members. The Arts Depot has reserved their gallery space from March 2 – April 1, 2017 to showcase works by members of the Arts & Culture Alliance. Should you wish to be considered for this exchange exhibition, we’ll have Clark Gillespie, Assistant Curator/Registrar at the Knoxville Museum of Art, select 40-50 works from among those included in Annual Members Show. There is space on the artwork release form for you to indicate if you wish your piece to be considered; we request that you be prepared to remit a $5/per (selected) piece fee to assist with the cost of transporting artwork. 5) Parking/unloading options

6) Show dates
December 2-23. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Please note: the Emporium is officially closed from December 24 – January 2 for the holidays.
7) Pick up at end of exhibition
Please plan to pick up your works on Tuesday, January 3, between 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
