Shelley Mangold is a teaching artist, renting studio space in Studios North in Knoxville’s Fourth and Gill neighborhood. She has a BA in Art from Adelphi University and a MS in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Tennessee. A long time potter and former public school elementary art teacher, she now teaches adult mixed media and alcohol ink techniques and occasional kids art classes. Her work has been shown locally at The Emporium, Arts in the Airport, A1LabArts, Fountain City Art Center, TVUU Church, Temple Beth El Gallery and Broadway Studios Her next inks workshop will be in March next door at the Knoxville Fine Arts and Craft Center.

My work has always been eclectic and diverse, owing to my many interests and travels. I enjoy creating art papers to layer with paints and inks to bring back a memory or set a mood. Always a student, I love learning from other artists and the great outdoors. It’s important to me to borrow from reality to convey a sense of time and place in both my representational and abstract works of art.
