Memento Vivere translates to, “Remember that we must live,” and this exhibit explores the experience of living through grief, loss, and the complexity of love. These works are a combination of family negatives, heirlooms, and personal memories reimagined as cyanotypes and time-based media explorations. My Grandmother was a photographer, my Mother was a photographer, and this project honors their lives, as well as it allowed me to explore the complex ways we grieve and show up for one another within our communities.

Anna Lawrence is an artist and co-founder of The Big Camera based in Knoxville, Tennessee. She enjoys alternative and historic photography processes that allow for experimentation and “happy accidents.” Her work is often inspired by personal narratives or time spent in nature.
