Knoxville Symphony Orchestra: Opening Night: The Planets
The Knoxville Symphony opens its 84th season by taking to the stars, in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing. Audiences will instantly recognize Johann Strauss, Jr.’s ‘On The Beautiful Blue Danube’ from the film “2001: A Space Odyssey” and Debussy’s ‘Clair de lune,’ plus contemporary composer Missy Mazzoli’s “These Worlds in Us,” inspired by James Tate’s poem, “The Lost Pilot.” Gustav Holst’s iconic, celestial showpiece, “The Planets”, will include visual accompaniment featuring spectacular original animations and NASA media cued live to follow music.

Advance reservations required? YES. Visit or call the KSO Box Office (M-F 9-5) at least 24 hours prior to the concert. This offer is not available through web sales or for walk up sales at the venue the afternoon or evening of the concert.
