The Cumberland Woodturners is proud to be part of the April exhibitions at the Emporium. Participating members include Ted Pelfrey, Rod Smith, Larry Lewis, Thomas Neckvatal, Ron Solfest, Randy Geckler, and Eric Winkler. The Cumberland Woodturners is a group of men and women who enjoy the art of turning wood. Our members range from novice to professional with a shared interest of creating art from wood utilizing the lathe. Everyone is welcome.
Ted Pelfrey creates highly detailed turnings with multiple embellishments on pre-return items. Ted specializes in piercing and unique designs. Rod Smith specializes making products utilizing segmenting techniques using thousands of pieces of wood of various special species. Rod was also the treasure of the Cumberland Woodturners for five years. Larry Lewis produces a variety of turned items to include a Christmas ornament bowls and various products. Thomas Neckvatal’s turnings include the use of epoxy as an embellishment along with wood burning and acrylic paint. Ron Solfest specializes in ornaments and a highly detailed small-scale turnings; detail is his hallmark. Randy Geckler specializes in highly detail items, including a series of tops of multiple designs. Randy also turns bowls, vases and ornaments. Eric Winkler’s use of detailed carvings, paintings and woodburning makes his projects very specialized.
