Cathedral Concert Series: VERDI IN THE CATHEDRAL presented by the Amadeus Chamber Ensemble under the direction of Brian Salesky

Brian Salesky, former Executive and Artistic Director of Knoxville Opera, will conduct this free admission concert featuring thrilling and dramatic selections from the legendary Verdi canon. Represented are the Requiem, La Forza del Destino (The Force of Destiny; produced in Knoxville by Maestro Salesky in 2008), and first time Knoxville performances of music from Don Carlo and I Lombardi alla Prima Crociata (The Lombards at the First Crusade).
The quintet of soloists includes soprano Rochelle Bard (previously featured in Knoxville Opera’s Norma, Il Trovatore, Maria Stuarda, 40th Anniversary Gala, Puccini Gala Concert), mezzosoprano Diana Salesky (frequent soloist with Amadeus Chamber Ensemble), tenor Aaron Short (previously featured in Knoxville Opera’s Lucia di Lammermoor and 40th Anniversary Gala), baritone Christian Bowers (veteran of worldwide opera companies in his Knoxville debut), and bass KC Armstrong (former member of The US Army Chorus and Air Force Singing Sergeants). The Ensemble’s concertmaster is internationally renowned violinist Miroslav Hristov who will play the bravura Act 3 Prelude from I Lombardi.
