Oak Ridge Civic Music Association: Ian Passmore conducts the Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra & Chorus in Family Meeting!: A Musical Time Machine
Sun Nov 20, 3 PM
First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge, 1350 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge

Buckle up on the Musical Time Machine! In partnership with First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge, ORCMA presents Guest Conductor & Music Director Finalist Ian Passmore leading the Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra & Chorus and Members of the Roane Choral Society in this program that is a musical “time machine” exploring works by composers ranging from the late 1500s all the way through the present. Along the way, we’ll discuss what each “family” brings to the concert experience and WHY each piece sounds the way it does. The program ends with one of the most thrilling “barn-burners” in the entire orchestral repertoire — Haydn’s 88th Symphony. Special guest artist Clare Longendyke performs Ellen Taaffe Zwilich’s Peanuts Gallery Piano Concerto. Other featured composers are Lloyd Pfautsch, Giovanni Gabrieli, Max Reger, and Edward Elgar.

Adult $30; Young Adult (ages 19-29) $10. Chaperones receive free admission with 5 attending youths 18 or younger. Thanks to a generous donor, any youth who attends all 4 of ORCMA’s Orchestra & Chorus concerts this fall may request a free metronome to further their interest in music! For more information, stop by the Box Office at the concert.

Youth and Adult tickets are available at the door, online, or by phone.
