Oak Ridge Civic Music Association: Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra Special Concert in Farragut: A Musical Exploration of Cultures
Sat Sep 9, 7:30 PM
NEW LOCATION: St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church
110 Sugarwood Drive, Farragut/Knoxville, TN 37934
This is a special concert by the Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra. Become musically immersed in the topics of American Black Music, Indigenous Heritage, hate crimes, and Latino immigration during Maestro Stabilito’s season-opening concert. Inspired by the very successful 2023 “Roots of America” Lecture Series hosted by the Oak Ridge Institute for Continued Learning (ORICL) in partnership with the Oak Ridge Breakfast Rotary Club, the concert includes music by Gonzalo Castellanos-Yumar, Carlos Simon, Szymon Laks, and Louis Ballard performed by a small sinfonietta of the orchestra’s principal musicians. Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring for 13 Instruments will no doubt be an audience favorite!
