Don’t miss out on this significant event, featuring a captivating performance by the full Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra and The Oak Ridge Chorus that promises to be both historical and moving.

“Overture for the Dedication of a Nuclear Reactor” is a masterpiece by Arthur Roberts, a renowned composer celebrated for his innovative style. Specifically composed for the Oak Ridge Symphony, it skillfully captures the anticipation, excitement, and awe surrounding the dedication of a nuclear reactor. The Oak Ridge Chorus will join us for a composition by Joel Thompson, a rising composer known for his emotionally resonant pieces addressing social issues. His impactful work, “Seven Last Words of the Unarmed,” pays homage to the lives lost to racial injustice. Dmitri Shostakovich, a towering figure in 20th-century classical music, made an unforgettable impact with his Symphony No. 5 in D minor, Op. 47. Regarded as a symbol of resilience in the face of adversity, Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony continues to captivate audiences with its timeless power and enduring relevance.
