The WordPlayers: Summer Musical Theatre Camp
The WordPlayers Summer Musical Theatre Camp
Mon-Fri Jun 26-30, 9 AM – 2 PM
End of Camp Showcase: Friday, June 30 @ 2:00 PM
At Erin Presbyterian Church, 200 Lockett Rd., in West Knoxville
Welcome to the world of musical theatre! Our drama director, Dana Spears, will teach characterization through improv, theatre games, and simple square dances. Our music director will teach basic singing techniques for theatre through vocal exercises and sing-a-longs. Students will work together to create sets and scenes for the children’s musical, Johnny Appleseed by Dana Spears, based on the life of John Chapman. Interwoven with traditional American folk music and dance, the short play will be presented, in full costume, at the conclusion of the week. More importantly, the campers will have an opportunity to use their God-given gifts and develop confidence as they make friends in an encouraging environment. Focus: Improv, Vocal Projection, Dance and Acting Basics, Musical Performance, and Set Production.
Deadline for registration is June 7, although early registration is highly recommended. This camp is limited to 25 campers in order to give the children personal attention. Intended for rising 3rd to rising 6th graders. Cost: $250, $200 sibling (one per full price enrollment). Students will bring their own snacks, lunches, and water bottles.
Registration: Email wordplayers@comcast.net or call 865-539-2490 to receive a registration form. The WordPlayers is a company of Christian theatre artists in its 28th year. For more information about The WordPlayers, please visit www.wordplayers.org
